Christopher lives with his dad in swindon because he was told that he mom died in a crash when he was a kid. In looking for the dog, Christopher finds that his mother is still alive and has been trying to contact him but his dad hides it from him. so Christopher decides to run away and visit his mom which lead to the mom and dad fighting over him. in the end his dad scares Christopher and tells him he killed the neighbors dog, so he lives with his mom.

Christopher Boone: Autistic, quick-tempered, fearful, intelligent, timid.

Ed Boone: Drunk, ill willed, lonely, protective.

Judy Boone: Caring, forgiving, hurt, understanding.

Mrs. Shears: Ill tempered, desperate, lonely.

  1. Christopher views the world in a different way then other people, and feels different about situations, If you were in Christopher shoes how would you react? how would you feel?
  2. The death of the dog leads Christopher to the truth behind his moms death. How are the two related to each other?
  3. Mrs. Shears and Christophers dad are both single form divorce, how does this play are role in the book?
From Chapter 5, page 3-4:

Christopher: "I like dogs. You always know what a dog is thinking. It has four moods. Happy, sad, cross and concentrating".

This whole book is based on the life of an autistic child and how he learns and feels. this quote sums most of everything you have to know about autistic kids. Here christopher describes himself. He has four moods through out the book happy, sad, cross and concentration. The correlation between dogs and autistic kids is made in this quote, and through out the book he is trying to find who killed the dog and who his mom is. It turns out that his dad, killed the dog and his dad hide his mom from him. The fact dad has isolated him from his mom is in direct correlation to the his dad killing the dog. The two situations that go on in the book directly connect to each other, the boys life and the life of the dog. One of the main themes of this book is accepting peoples challenges.
